MUD is an acronym for "Multi-User Dungeon", "Multi-User Domain" and "Multi-User Dimensions". It is a multi-player game played via the internet or some local network. Such games are usually textual in nature. Players interact with each other by typing commands into their computers. As such, these social interactions are not personal and often, users take to anonymity. Often, MUDs have fantastic or magical settings as their themes. Aardwolf is an example of a popular MUD.
